Meet Our Growers
Founded in 1976, our second-generation family farm sustainably provides a year-round selection of specialty organic produce with a high standard of food safety and quality. Our farm started as a means of supplying the Davis Farmers Market, which our parents co-founded with two other farm families. Founded in 1976, our home farm is in Yolo County in Northern California where we farm 500 acres; we also farm 200 acres in Imperial County in Southern California and 165 in Bakersfield and Salinas.
We are proud of our farm team and their flexibility and creativity in planting during a drought year. We donate to local food banks through our Donate-A-Box program (from our farm’s CSA and produce delivery service Farm Fresh To You); we delivered over 5,000 boxes to people in need.
Our farming practices go well beyond the organic standards by incorporating environmentally sustainable procedures into our farming practices. These include: crop rotation, beneficial insect habitat (hedgerows) development and maintenance, local fertilizer selections, efficient drip irrigation systems coupled with irrigation scheduling driven by plant needs, sediment trap installations and maintenance and dedicated wild areas populated with California native plants, enabling the local flora and fauna to thrive. Our farm’s planting schedule is built around creating year-round work for our invaluable family of employees, and we foster a culture of engagement and respect that creates a healthy work environment as well as providing them opportunities for upward mobility within the organization.
