  • Class C Sprinter/Van Driver

    Veritable Vegetable is seeking an outgoing, customer service-oriented Class C Sprinter/Van Driver to deliver organic fruits and vegetables to local restaurants and groceries and occasionally pick-up from organic farms and distributors. The available routes operate primarily within San Francisco and surrounding cities.

     

    We Are Looking For Someone Who Is:

    • Able to work early morning hours (start time is between 3:00 AM – 4:00 AM)
    • Available to work WEEKENDS / schedule may vary
    • Skilled in dealing with people and has proven customer service skills
    • Reliable, cooperative, diligent, and efficient
    • Able to work both independently and in a team
    • Proficient in basic math
    • Able to lift up to 55 lbs.
    • Experienced with produce (preferred)
    • Has pallet jack and forklift experience (a plus)

    Qualifications:

    • Proficient in use of all manual and power equipment (will train)
    • Clear understanding of acceptable produce quality at both pick-up and delivery points (will train)
    • Prior experience in the food industry, preferably working with restaurants or other food preparation establishments.
    • Maintenance of a clean driving record
    • Strong understanding of driver safety protocols
    • Previous experience performing basic mechanical repairs and equipment maintenance procedures or willingness to learn
    • Bi-lingual, Spanish/English, preferred

     

    WAGE RANGE: $20.00 – $25.00/hr.

  • Class A Commercial Driver

    Class A Drivers at Veritable Vegetable act as ambassadors of our company’s mission, culture and policies. They effectively execute truck routes, generating business and ensuring safety and compliance with all State and Federal regulations, customer satisfaction and environmental sustainability.

    Regional Class A Drivers pick up and deliver throughout California and the Southwest. Our longest route is six days out and back; most routes last from 2-5 days, depending on the route.

    Local Class A Drivers pick up and deliver through the Bay Area and return home daily.

     

    Veritable Vegetable offers Class A Drivers:

    • Cash Per Diems for overnight routes

    Class A Driver Responsibilities:

    • Thoroughly prepare for the truck run by reviewing all paperwork, conducting vehicle inspections, and gathering all required materials prior to departure.
    • Accurately complete all paperwork.
    • Following established routes, effectively deliver produce and/or freight. Meet established customer deadlines and ensure security of product en-route and at the customer site.
    • Establish positive relationships with customers and vendors.
    • Monitor equipment condition and performance, proactively identify potential mechanical problems.
    • Maintain vehicle in clean and working condition.
    • Proficiently use all department electronic devices.
    • Follow all procedures to ensure compliance with all State and Federal regulations.
    • Operate all equipment safely incorporating defensive driving techniques, basic on-the-road courtesy, and considering weather conditions, to reduce the risk of accidents.
    • Ensure proper loading and securing of product to prevent movement or damage in transport.
    • Follow established accident procedures.
    • Understand VV’s safety policies, procedures and best practices and comply with safe use of equipment, safe lifting practices and food safety requirements.

     

    Class A Driver Qualifications:

    • Valid commercial Class A driver’s license and DOT medical card and be an insurable driver
    • Strong understanding of driver safety protocols
    • Knowledge of relevant Federal and State (DOT) hours of service regulations
    • Expert backing skills
    • Understanding of acceptable produce quality at both pick-up and delivery points
    • Maintenance of a clean driving record
    • Mechanical aptitude
    • Bi-lingual, Spanish/English, preferred

     

    Class A Driver Physical Requirements:

    • Ability to lift up to 55 lbs.
    • Ability to make repetitive movements including, but not limited to bending or squatting, climbing into and out of trucks
    • Ability to drive long shifts
    • Some exposure to petroleum products, exhaust fumes, moving machinery and loud noises
    • Regular exposure to changing weather conditions such as ice, rain, snow, blowing dust, heat, etc.

     

    Job Type: Full-time

    Salary: $25.00 to $29.00 /hour

  • Marketing Communications Coordinator

    The Marketing Communications Coordinator implements marketing and community involvement strategies and tactics, as developed by the Marketing Communication Director, and ensures the consistent presentation of Veritable Vegetable’s (VV) brand and messaging to internal and external audiences.

    Responsibilities

    • Support Sales efforts: development of collateral and materials, product and grower promotion campaigns, market research, and preparation and attendance of sales events to meet sales focused marketing goals.
    • Design, plan, manage and optimize content for emails, newsletters, grower profiles, website, blog, social media and other communication materials to build engagement and increase revenue.
    • Manage production of all email campaigns and provide support for issues with email programs and email templates.
    • Maintain email list serve health, contacts and email subscriptions.
    • Assist with monthly reporting on website analytics and metrics.
    • Attend weekly product meetings and act as liaison between marketing, purchasing and sales departments.
    • Manage and monitor social media accounts on a daily basis to ensure engagement with audiences. Report on performance metrics regularly.
    • Support Community Engagement Director with the coordination of educational tours, sponsorships, donation requests, award and grant research and VV’s participation in events and conferences.
    • Manage internal programs and efforts to positively affect internal communication and culture. Projects may include but are not limited to schwag distribution, staff recognition/appreciation, staff photos, company events, farm visits, All Staff Meetings, internal newsletters and memos and signage requests.
    • Ensure VV branding, messaging and style is consistent throughout all internal and external communication.
    • Support other general marketing tasks as directed by the Marketing Communication Director.

    Qualifications

    • 3+ years of experience in communications and marketing in sales driven business environment
    • Professional experience with social media platforms, website content management, e-Commerce platforms and email marketing programs.
    • Skilled in Excel, PowerPoint and other Microsoft Office applications.
    • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator.)
    • Knowledge of sustainable food systems, desirable.
    • Experience in produce industry and distribution, desirable.

    Physical Requirements

    • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. without assistance.
    • Valid state driver’s license.
    • Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
    • Must be able to travel on occasion, work nights and weekends several times a year.

    SALARY RANGE: $55,000 – $65,000 DOE
