    Responsibilities

    • Identify and maintain appropriate staffing levels to achieve department goals
    • Assign accounts to appropriate staff, cover staffing for vacations, etc., and assign other tasks as needed

    Qualifications

    • 3-5 years of experience in sales management
    • Experience in produce industry required, experience in distribution a plus
    • Appreciation for the principles of sustainable agriculture and the value of organic produce
    • Comfortable with office applications: Word, Excel, Outlook
    • Must have a valid driver’s license and be an insurable driver

    Responsibilities

    Payroll

    • Monitor time clock information, fully understanding payroll overtime rules and how they work in conjunction with each other as well as fully understanding the purpose, use and functionality of all pay categories;
    • Maintain payroll files, fringe benefits and payroll deductions, understanding wage and fringe benefit taxability;
    • Prepare payroll tax deposits, fully understanding federal, state and city payroll tax deposit rules;
    • Reconcile and review payroll tax returns, understanding how and what pay information summarizes on returns as well as understand how information on returns interrelate;
    • Monitor garnishments, fully understanding garnishment hierarchy and deduction set up;
    • Respond timely to staff inquiries;
    • Prepare and reconcile 401k contributions, deductions and employer match submissions, understanding legal responsibilities of accurate and processing timely submission;
    • Prepare worker comp reports, reconciling to payroll tax returns and understanding how classification codes, overtime and double time affect calculation;
    • Prepare payroll and payroll related general ledger journal entries, understanding payroll related assets, liabilities and expenses;
    • Reconcile payroll general ledger accounts;
    • Recommend and manage implementation of changes to systems;
    • Document and maintain written payroll procedures.

    HR/Benefits

    • Enroll staff with benefit carriers and process qualifying event changes;
    • Ensure the accuracy of all benefits enrollments to provide vendors with accurate eligibility information;
    • Process new-hire, status change and termination paperwork;
    • Update payroll database and applicable spreadsheets with new and changing information, ensure accuracy and integrity of information;
    • Reconcile benefits-related data (e.g. invoices);
    • Assist HR Director in informing staff members regarding benefit claim issues and plan changes;
    • Respond to benefit inquiries from managers and staff members on plan provisions, benefit enrollments, status changes, and other general inquiries;
    • Respond to 401(k) inquiries from managers and employees relating to enrollments, plan changes, and contribution amounts;
    • Assist with New Hire Orientations and Open Enrollments.
    • Run payroll reports as requested.

    Accounts Payable Support

    • Daily filing;
    • Process vendor invoices and payments.

    Accounts Receivable Support

    • Pick up, reconcile, and scan customer payments.

    General Accounting Support

    • Participate in month end inventory count verification, accurately counting randomly selected inventory items;
    • Various other projects and tasks as directed by the Finance Director or Finance Manager.

    Qualifications

    • 2-5 years of payroll processing experience
    • Proficient in Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
    • Knowledge of Paychex Flex and Report Writer payroll software a plus
    • Knowledge of time and attendance software a plus
    • General Knowledge of accounting practices a plus

  • Class A Regional Driver

    We are looking for CDL Drivers who are:

    • AVAILABLE to work early morning hours and weekends; start times vary from Midnight – 5:00 AM
    • Reliable, cooperative, diligent, and efficient, with good customer service skills
    • Able to work both independently and as team members

    • Able to lift up to 55 lbs

    • Following established routes, effectively deliver produce and/or freight. Meet established customer deadlines and ensure security of product en-route and at the customer site.
    • Establish positive relationships with customers and vendors.
    • Monitor equipment condition and performance, proactively identify potential mechanical problems.
    • Maintain vehicle in clean and working condition.
    • Proficiently use all department electronic devices.
    • Follow all procedures to ensure compliance with all State and Federal regulations.
    • Operate all equipment safely incorporating defensive driving techniques, basic on-the-road courtesy, and considering weather conditions, to reduce the risk of accidents.
    • Ensure proper loading and securing of product to prevent movement or damage in transport.
    • Follow established accident procedures.
    • Understand VV’s safety policies, procedures and best practices and comply with safe use of equipment, safe lifting practices and food safety requirements.

    Physical Requirements

    • Ability to lift up to 55 lbs.
    • Ability to make repetitive movements including, but not limited to bending or squatting, climbing into and out of trucks

  • Green Fleet Trucking Manager

    Veritable Vegetable (VV) is a women-owned and led organic produce distribution company based in San Francisco, California. Established in 1974, we source and deliver the freshest and highest quality produce.
    We are looking for a highly organized and experienced Trucking Manager to manage and coordinate our complex private/for-hire trucking operation, support our regional and local drivers, and ensure the highest levels of safety, customer service and environmental sustainability. This position partners with our Fleet Manager and reports to our Trucking Director.

    Our trucking department employs 30+ drivers, operating company owned Sprinter Vans, Class B bobtails, short and long trailers, day cabs and full-sized sleepers. We operate seven days a week, 365 days a year.

    All candidates should have extensive experience within the transportation industry, managing a diverse workforce and robust workflow, as well as experience designing and implementing new department procedures.
