Sierra Cascade Farm is a family-owned and operated farm located in the Lassen foothills, east of Chico, California. John and Armen Carlon, have been farming 9 acres of blueberries on the 61-acre property since 1989. Certified by CCOF since 1993, Sierra Cascade is one of the oldest blueberry farms in California! Their sons, Ryan and Will, farm alongside them and now their four grandchildren have also gotten the ‘blueberry bug.’

Sierra Cascade blueberries are heritage variety ‘highbush’ blueberries, picked fresh at their peak, resulting in a berry that is always sweet, plump and flavorful. Consistent taste and quality over the years has earned this farm a loyal following, season after season.

The Carlons work continuously toward creating a fair and positive working environment, improving the natural character of their land, and integrating their farm into the larger landscape, including the watershed and native habitat. They rely on diverse wildlife—bumble bees, gophers, and Cooper’s hawks—to help balance the natural environment with the cultivated one. Apart from the electricity that powers the water pumps, fuel for the tractor and trucks, and packaging for the fruit, the farm is largely self-sustaining and uses few off-farm inputs. Even the irrigation pumps run on solar panels installed on-site!
