Blue Heron Farms

Blue Heron Farms is a 20-acre certified organic farm operating in a small, sheltered valley in Corralitos, California, along the Central Coast. Coastal breezes keep the farm cool in the summer and relatively warm in the winter. The 650-foot elevation puts it out of the coastal fog zone. The result of the unusual climate zone is that a wide variety of vegetables can be grown.

In addition to vegetables, Blue Heron has a robust organic flower program. Four of the 20-acres is dedicated to growing annual and perennial flowers.

Dennis Tamura ran the UC Santa Cruz Farm and Garden for several years after studying with Alan Chadwick, the renowned master gardener. Blue Heron Farms started in 1985. Today, Dennis continues to operate the farm together with his wife Lori Perry. Blue Heron is driven by the hard work of a wonderful group of workers from Jalisco and Michoacan, Mexico, a passionate flower crew, as well as a dedicated market staff.

Note: Do not confuse this lettuce & greens grower with a similarly named small farm in the Capay Valley that grows citrus.

Grows:

Little Gem Lettuce, Bok Choy, Broccoli, Carrot, Cilantro, Green Onion, Fennel, Floral, Leek, Radish
