Burroughs Family Farms
Denair, California https://burroughsfamilyfarms.com/Burroughs Family Farms is run by Benina and Heriberto Montes out of California’s northern San Joaquin Valley, just outside Yosemite National Park. The duo took over the poultry operation from Full Dairy Circle in 2010 and have been growing it ever since. Heri and Benina’s four children are also very involved in everyday farm operations.
Benina also farms alongside her parents Ward and Rosie at the neighboring Burroughs Family Orchards, part of the family’s fifth-generation farming operation, where the family grows organic almonds, walnuts, and olive oil.
Their approach is rooted in regenerative farming—prioritizing soil health, biodiversity, and a whole-systems mindset. By integrating livestock, eliminating synthetic inputs, and farming in balance with the land, they produce high-quality, nutrient-dense food with care for both people and the environment.
