Thermal, CA https://www.dosnerorganicfarms.comWith nearly forty years of experience in food production, Silvia Jackson is incredibly knowledgeable about the fresh produce industry. In 2011 she co-founded Dosner Organic Farms with her husband, Brodeli Toledo. It became a family operation when her daughter Stephanie joined the business, making it a two-generation women and minority-owned business.
Initially, the family sourced, processed, and distributed produce. That all changed in 2020, when the family took over 60 acres from Rocket Farm in Thermal, California, in the Coachella Valley, and began growing their own herbs. Dosner Organic Farms has been organic since the day they began farming operations.
Dosner Organic Farms works with other local growers, and along with its own farm, is able to provide a year-round supply of California-grown herbs. The unique warm climate in Thermal (138 feet below sea level!) allows the herbs to thrive during cold winters. Most other winter herb supply relies on imports, and is not domestically grown.
Aside from growing and distributing nutritious food, Dosner is an integral part of their community in many other ways; they participate in food drives with Saint Jude, assist seniors, and support food programs offered by the city of Thermal. They have a salad and juice bar, and also run a produce box home delivery service.
