LaPierre Farms has been owned and operated by the LaPierre family since 1985. Mark LaPierre worked on his grandparents’ farms in the Yakima, Washington area while in high school and college. With a horticulture degree in hand, he returned to the Yakima Valley and planted his first cherry —just a stone’s throw from the land his grandfather had farmed grapes. Over time, Mark adopted organic growing practices and together with his wife, Marni, expanded to grow more varieties of fruit.  The farm is now 200 acres and grows blueberries, cherries, nectarines, peaches, apples and even produces organic wine! It’s a family affair with their children, Garret and Lauren also involved in day-to-day operations. The farm has been certified organic for over 20 years.

Mark believes farmers often grow what they like to eat and the LaPierre family loves blueberries! Before every harvest, they taste the berries to make sure they are at peak flavor. Blueberries on the same bush don’t ripen all at once and can usually require several picks.  Their passion for growing high quality fruit and attention to detail sets LaPierre apart. From nurturing the plants as they grow, to hand-picking the fruit and post-harvest cooling, they take care in every step of bringing their fruit to market.

Sustainable farming is at the heart of LaPierre Farms’ success in growing delicious fruit.  From water usage to packing material, they strive for continuous improvement to reduce their footprint. In 2022, they introduced an eco-friendly 100% compostable cherry bag!

Fun Fact: LaPierre is pronounced ‘Lah-Peer’

LaPierre has a tasting room for their wines in Zillah, Washington which includes an organic produce market stocked with fresh seasonal fruit from their farm. They invite everyone to come for a taste!
