Willow Creek Farms sprouted its roots in 1993, initially on 17-acres, and later expanding to a thriving 23-acre agricultural haven. With three decades of farming experience under his belt, Michael Peterson’s journey commenced as a farmhand straight out of college. Through unwavering commitment and hard work, he learned the complexities of farming, ultimately taking the reins from the prior owner. Jennifer joined him in 1999, and together they have enjoyed growing food for the community and connecting with the land.

Willow Creek Farms is a true family enterprise, where Michael oversees operations and sales and Jennifer manages business projects and distribution. Their two teenagers pitch in as well, whenever their schedules allow.

During the winter, a modest farm crew of 3-4 workers keeps things running smoothly, but this number grows to a dedicated team of 6-7 individuals when summer’s bounty increases production.

Nestled in the heart of Humboldt County, Willow Creek Farms is ideally situated in a river valley, enveloped by coastal mountains. The farm’s strategic location offers an idyllic climate, courtesy of its low elevation and proximity to the Trinity River, creating the perfect conditions for growing an abundant array of fruits and vegetables. Their skillful crop selection and rotation maximizes the acreage, capitalizing on the region’s distinct seasons. Sun-soaked summers develop sugars in corn, melons, peppers, and tomatoes, while mild winters breathe life into flourishing kale, cabbage, and root crops.

VV is proud to have partnered with Willow Creek for nearly 30 years. The farm has a strong local following, selling at farmer’s markets and retail markets in their region. It is no surprise they sell out of everything they grow, season after season!
